Raranga Matihiko

On Wednesday the 19th of February the year 6’s went to Waitangi for the whole day. We did heaps of different things like go to the new museum and using Ipads .  Ipads that are a type of a Ipad with a keyboard that you can take on and off the Ipad and it also comes with a pen that can only work on the one Ipad thing that you have, they were also touch screen. The museum was super cool. We saw so much people that were related to us that fought in the world war one and two and that was so cool to see.  It was really fun looking at all the maori people that fought for Aotearoa (New Zealand if you didn’t know). We learnt heaps of things and we all wished we could learn more things about all those people who died fighting for us. There wasn’t enough  ipad services for us so I just used a chromebook so I don’t really know how they work that well. If you don’t know what the museum was about is about the Maori Battalion and it’s about maoris that fought for New Zealand. We all wished that we could go back and look at heaps more things and learn even more, I might be going again with some of my family. We learnt things on scratch and it was fun as well. We did heaps things and I really enjoyed it.

Visting Te Ngahere

This week on Tuesday we went to the Ngahere, if you don’t know what the Ngahere is, it’s the forest/bush and everyone should know what those two things are,if you don’t it’s when there's heaps of trees and things that are related to being in the trees and bushes and stuff and there’s way more things then you think. We saw heaps of different things and we learnt heaps of different things about the Ngahere as well. We came up with heaps of ideas that we could do with our Design our Class, that is when we're making our class in to our own Ngahere (Design our Class is a art that we’re doing as a class). Do you like the Ngahere? Would you want to go to the Ngahere?

The Incredible Russell Swimming Sports

Last week some of Te Ngahere went to Russell Swimming sports. Russell Swimming sports is when there’s heaps of schools that meet and have races, realise and heaps more. You are put in your age groups. We did diving and my friend Fern did it with me, it was really fun and we saw heaps of sprats (a type of small fish) . I did freestyle and I lost and it was funny all my friends and I were laughing because we thought it was that  funny we thought it was funny because I also went crooked, I also was supposed to do breaststroke but they canceled it and that was the one that I would improve myself. They did breaststroke for the championships and I didn’t get to.  It was really scary when we first raced but fun as well. I saw heaps of my friends from different school  that I haven't seen in ages. Fern and I ended up being in the Juniors because I am nine and turning ten in June. My other two friends were in the senior because they already turned ten. We went against heaps of schools like Russell, Opou, Karetu, Oramahoe and others as well. It was really hard but I still want to do it again next year and hopefully I will put an improvement in it. At the end we went to the walf and we jumped off and then we had to try catch our ferry back to Paihia. We all enjoyed it and wish we were still there.

Explain T Shaped

This week we started a new T Shaped. The T Shaped is about all of the knowledge that we got out of our writing that was about how to write a explain. The thing that we learnt was all the different things that you need in a explain that I will explain soon. We haven’t done much but we all think it’s really fun. If you don’t know what and explain is it’s when you use certain language features like nominalisation, passive voice, rhetorical questions and more as well, but for now I will tell you those three and the others in my next post that you will be able to read soon. Nominalisation is when  you get a verb and put tion, ure, ent and more as well at the end of the verb and turn it into a noun. Passive voice is when you can’t use word’s like I, you, I’m, your and heaps more that I might be able to tell you in the next blog post with everything else. The last one is Rhetorical questions, Rhetorical questions is when you ask the person that is reading your story a question and they don’t need to answer it if you still don’t get what I mean don’t be afraid to ask me and I can explain it better.

Some Amazing Facts About Shortcuts on Your Chromebook

On Monday some of us started Digital Dig. Digital Dig is when you learn and do different things on your chromebook. I have been learning to use different shortcuts on my chromebook. I think I would want to do this again because I really enjoyed doing it. The only thing was some of them were easy and some of them were hard because of the different things that we had to do. I also think I worked really hard because I almost finished it in a one whole day and I think it’s really good. I learnt heaps of different things from learning all of the different things that we had to do. I made a couple of mistakes and I fixed them and I also had I little bit of help from friends and in the end we worked together and made sure that everything was correct. I tried really hard at heaps of different things we had to do and I think it was really fun. The strategy that I’m going to try next time is to try and do it myself and if in need a little bit of help our ask my buddy or a friend. My challenge for next time is to try not to use my buddies or friends to help me and if I do I’ll help them. To improve my work I think I could reread it until my buddy and I thinks it’s purrfect. If you did Digital dig how would you think you’d do in it?

Using Your Kaha

For the past couple of weeks we have been doing stuff for our four hoe. We were in groups of four and I was with Fern, Ayanda & Akira, sadly we weren’t able to finish because Akira left back to her home country and that’s Australia. We were doing a Imovie but as I said we couldn’t finish. We had to write a script and then we practiced it all the time. We filmed some of it and it’s still not done. It was still really fun to do but it was really sad that we couldn’t finish it. We learnt a lot about Kaha. Kaha is when you don’t be a bully and be nice and showing heaps of different things. Then we made the movie for it but I don’t think we're going to finish it.
